The Farmersville Fire Department was started when the water works was installed in 1916. The Board of Public Affairs purchased the fire hose which was carried to the fire on a large reel by the firemen, which left them out of wind by the time they reached the fire.
The first Fire Chief was Paul Holtzmuller and the fire department had 17 members. In 1920 ( which was when it was first believed the department was started) the first firetruck was purchased. A Model T Ford.
April 1932 Village Council took out the first accident insurance on 12 firemen.
April 1933 the fire department purchase a used 1928 GMC truck from Ed Stiver for $100.00 which Mr. Stiver gave back $10.00 for a donation to the department The old Model T was sold for $10.00.
